Before the holidays, our SS3 and SS4 students had the privilege of attending the Théâtre français de Toronto to watch Les Zinspirés 4D, a series of theatre productions created by young French students. The students applied their French foundations, while enjoying the thrilling drama of live theatre

The program included the following shows: Jugements, (Judgments), Peur du Placard (The Fear of the Closet), Soliloque d’un menteur (A Skilled Liar) and Amoureuse en route (Lover on the Way). Their enriching day was culminated with lunch at a French restaurant, Papillion on the Park, where they ordered their food in French.

Says Mme Talaat: "This trip, an SS3 and SS4 tradition, is continually hailed as the most enjoyable and educational."

Here are some student testimonials:

"We really enjoyed seeing the play. We admit that we didn't have high hopes at the beginning, but our expectations were definitely surpassed. The actors, even though they were amateurs, were quite believable and because we both understood everything that they said, we found each act to be funny. All of the acts were written by students in high school, all the plots were mostly linked to school, all the actors were young, and much of the language was understandable, therefore, we were easily able to empathize with them. We also found the lunch to be enjoyable. Thank you so much Mme Talaat for organizing this event!"

"…It was a great opportunity that connected French classes to the real world. The plays were funny, entertaining, and relatable, making them a lot more enjoyable than plays written by professionals. After, we went to a French restaurant and tried French cuisine. It was a really fun day, where we got to explore different aspects of the French culture…"
- Michelle D.

"It was a small theatre, but it made the plays more intimate and made me feel like I was part of the play. Since students wrote these plays, they were much easier to understand and I was able to follow along easier than other French plays and movies I’ve watched..."
