Summer Academy

Summer Academy Online Courses 2026

Summer Academy courses are open to current SMLS and Ontario secondary school students. Courses will be taught by an SMLS teacher and will use the ELCC online learning platform Canvas for all summer programs. 

Courses run from June 22 to July 22, 2026. 

Please note that space is limited and will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. All SMLS Summer Academy offerings are open to the public. Questions pertaining to the SMLS summer academy can be directed to Marc Brims, Senior School Principal.

  • Grade 9 Reach Ahead Math (MTH1W)

    This course enables students to consolidate, and continue to develop, an understanding of mathematical concepts. 

    Course Structure: Synchronous morning session, asynchronous thereafter)

    Registrants from external schools must submit a letter of recommendation (current math teacher, principal or guidance counsellor) to the Senior School Principal (mbrims@smls.on.ca)

  • Grade 10 Career Studies (GLC2O)

    This course gives students the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge, and habits that will support them in their education and career/life planning. 

    Course Structure: Primarily asynchronous with synchronous teacher office hours provided for support

    This course explores rights and responsibilities associated with being an active citizen in a democratic society.
