A Warm Welcome from the SMLS Parent Association
Every SMLS parent is a member of the Parent Association and, when you join SMLS, I recommend that you get involved with PA and school activities. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our great community and help make SMLS the warm and inviting school that it is today. Getting involved with your PA is an excellent way to meet fellow parents and interact with faculty and staff, while enriching your daughters' SMLS experience.
The SMLS communitiy is filled with warm, caring and fun parents.  Together, we create amazing events for our fellow families and children to enjoy as well as supporting our school through fundraising events. There are a variety of opportunities to get involved, whether you have a few hours or many hours to offer.
I look forward to meeting all new SMLS parents and hope your family has a fabulous year.

SMLS PA President
What Do We Do?
The goal for the PA is to actively and relevantly contribute to the overall well-being of SMLS. We promote good fellowship among all those associated with the school and provide financial support for the school through our fundraising activities.

The PA hosts more than twenty events and activities throughout the year for students, families, faculty and staff to enjoy. This includes events such as Family Movie Night & BBQ at the beginning of the year, brunches, bingos, grade parties and other social events, including a biennial Gala for the entire school community. It also includes service events such as the Used Uniform Sale. Many of these events are friendraisers and some are fundraisers.

PA funds are used for a variety of purposes. In recent years, the PA’s primary areas of support were to the Head’s Initiative List including creation of the senior student lounge, enhancement of the new Junior School outdoor playground, the SMLS website and the Junior Art Room. All of these improvements will have a significant and lasting impact on the life of the school and those who learn and teach at SMLS. The PA also supports many different groups within the school and in our community, such as the Junior Resource Centre and Senior Resource Centre, Athletic Department, the grad dinner, travel expenses for the Senior School soccer team and Robotics team, sponsorship for Robotics and FIRST Lego League, Special Olympics, Kerr Street Ministries, Bereaved Families of Ontario, and the Salvation Army, among others. The PA also hosts parents in the fall at Grade Parties.
Our connection with other Interguild School Parent Associations and Guilds means that we are able to keep abreast of issues and trends arising in independent schools. This enables us to stay relevant and take advantage of the networking opportunities provided by Interguild.
