Middle School Students Explore Human Rights with the Tour for Humanity
At SMLS, we are committed to helping students become thoughtful, compassionate members of a global society. Our MS6 and MS8 students recently took a significant step in that journey by participating in the Tour for Humanity, a powerful, interactive mobile human rights education centre.
The Tour of Humanity provides a unique environment where history moves beyond the textbook. Through a combination of multimedia presentations and powerful storytelling, students examined the evolution of human rights and the recurring themes of identity and social responsibility. The sessions encourage students to look beyond the classroom and explore how historical events connect directly to current global issues. Students were challenged to think critically about the choices individuals make and how those choices shape the world we live in today.
The presentation left a lasting impression on our students. By the end of the sessions, students were thinking about how they can be active, compassionate citizens in their own communities.
