Q: How did you spend your summer vacation?
Some of my happiest days were spent playing, exploring, and laughing with my niece and nephew, enjoying their energy and curiosity. I also found time to read, which always inspires and recharges me, and began preparing for the exciting new adventures ahead in the Junior School.
Q: Who is your hero?
My parents are my heroes because they have always embodied the values I strive to live by. They model what it means to be lifelong learners, showing me that growth never stops no matter the stage of life. They have consistently encouraged me to be curious, to take risks, and to use my voice as a leader and changemaker. Their own journey - growing up in India, immigrating to Canada, and building a meaningful life here - taught me the power of courage, determination, and hope. For all of this and more, they will always be my greatest inspiration.
Q: What's your favourite book?
I have always found joy and inspiration in books, and while I have many favourites, two that hold a special place for me are The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri and Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Both stories, though very different, resonate deeply - The Namesake for its exploration of identity, belonging, and family, and Anne of Green Gables for its celebration of imagination, resilience, and the beauty of everyday life.
Q: What excites you most about joining the Junior School community?
I believe in the transformative power of early education, and I see tremendous potential in nurturing girls’ leadership and confidence from the very beginning of their educational journey. I’m excited to champion our youngest students as they learn who they are, develop strong character, and dare to be brave and proud of themselves.
Q: How do you see your role in shaping the Junior School experience?
My role will shape the student experience by creating a vibrant, nurturing, and inclusive community where every girl feels a deep sense of belonging and is inspired to learn with curiosity, confidence, and joy. I will lead with a commitment to innovation in teaching and learning, ensuring that our classrooms foster creativity, resilience, and a love of discovery. My goal is to help each of our students see themselves as life-long learners, leaders, and changemakers.
Q: What is your vision for the future of the Junior School?
The Junior School at SMLS is a vibrant and nurturing environment where young learners are empowered to grow with confidence, curiosity, and compassion. I want to continue cultivating a strong sense of belonging, leadership, and voice in our youngest students while also embracing all of the fun, spirit, and learning that lie ahead.
Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself
Several years ago, I took a year-long sabbatical to travel the world with nothing but a backpack. Along the way, I met incredible people, faced some of the most challenging experiences of my life, and discovered a great deal about myself. Those experiences stay with me every day—reminding me that I can be brave, that the world is vast, and that a smile and a warm heart are truly universal languages.
