SMLS Unveils New Coat of Arms at Founder's Day Ceremony

Last week, we proudly unveiled our newly granted Coat of Arms in a ceremony filled with tradition and local pride. Granted by the Canadian Heraldic Authority, this new emblem represents our school’s long-standing legacy and its vital role in the Oakville community.

The event was attended by several special guests, including The Right Reverend D. Ralph Spence, 10th Bishop of Niagara, The Right Reverend Dr. Susan Bell, 12th Bishop of Niagara, Oakville Ward 3 Town Councillor Janet Haslett-Theall, and Ms. Jessie Reiffenstein, a descendant of Miss Ruth Lightbourn. Together with students, staff, alumnae, and families, they celebrated this significant milestone.

Catherine Hant, Head of School, shared, "This Coat of Arms is more than just a symbol. It reflects the values that have been at the heart of St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn from the very beginning – academic excellence, spiritual growth, and leadership."

As SMLS continues to grow and evolve, this new symbol honours its deep-rooted connection to Oakville and the generations of families who have been part of its story. The Coat of Arms also reflects our school’s ongoing contribution to Canada’s cultural and educational landscape.
