Grade 2 and 3 Discover Community and Creativity at Bronte Creek Provincial Park

Our Grade 2 and 3 students trade their classrooms for the open air of Bronte Creek Provincial Park. This field trip provided rich, hands-on learning experiences, fostering an appreciation for nature.
For our Grade 2 students, the day was all about collective exploration and joyful play. They highlighted how being in nature brought them together, turning simple activities into shared fun.

“We loved playing at the barn, sliding, climbing, and jumping. It was a great day because we were together to explore nature,” reflected Harper B. and Celine T. “We made a huge leaf pile as a community and jumped in it. We played lots of games. We enjoyed being with each other. There were beautiful views when we were hiking and exploring the park.” The students even discovered a touch of magic: “Gnome Road was full of treasures and Fairy houses. It was like a scavenger hunt!”

The Grade 3 classes demonstrated impressive focus and engagement during their trip. Their experience centered on careful observation, hiking to enjoy the views, and creating art inspired by their environment.

Madison L. and Evelyn L. shared “our highlights were nature art, seeing goats and bunnies, and hiking to see the beautiful views at the top of the hill. We all showed curiosity when Mr. Dittmer was showing us the milkweed.” The students’ natural creativity shone through as they “showed creativity by working together and making beautiful nature art.”

This trip highlights the value of hands-on, outdoor education, leaving our students with memorable learning experiences and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
