Positive Community Awareness Week at SMLS

SMLS was pleased to celebrate our commitment to a positive community and healthy relationships during the province of Ontario’s Bullying Awareness Week, officially recognized during the third week of November each year. We discussed what bullying is (and isn’t) and created increased awareness about resources the school has in place to support students who may have concerns about how they or others are being treated. We took this opportunity to ensure that our students know about our SMLS – a Safe & Accepting School policy. Last year’s School Climate Survey completed by students indicated that not all students were aware that the school had a policy in place and procedures that are followed when incidents impacting student safety are reported.
