Ms. Gram's Artistic Vision Shines in New Caledon Library Mural
SMLS is delighted to announce a significant public art installation by our very own Junior School Art Teacher, Ms. Gram. She was selected from a highly talented group of local artists to transform the Caledon Public Library’s reading garden with a captivating mural.
Her work exemplifies a profound dedication to community engagement through art, extending her passion beyond the art room walls. Reflecting on this opportunity, Ms. Gram shared her excitement, stating “it was a tremendous honour and privilege to have been chosen for the project. It truly surprised me that I was selected from such a highly talented group of local artists.”
Ms. Gram provided a mini rendering for approval in late January before embarking on the final piece. “From the middle of February until the end of May, each weekend was spent bringing the initial picture to life on four large marine wood panels that would be connected together,” she explained. The work culminated with the mural being clear coated and cured on June 9 and installed on June 11 for its grand reveal.
This inspiring project not only fosters art appreciation and community connection but also serves as a powerful example for our students. We know Ms. Gram’s passion for pursuing art beyond traditional settings will encourage her students to pursue their own dreams and passions.
