JS5 Conquers Norval

Kyra, Amelia W. and Cynthia
On May 28, the JS5 students embarked on a two-night field trip to Norval Outdoor School. Throughout their stay, the students embraced many exciting adventures—from climbing high ropes over 40 feet in the air, which required bravery and focus, to taking part in choice activities like tubing down the Credit River, which called for a willingness to take risks. Some opted for beekeeping, which took courage and curiosity, while others tried firebuilding, which demanded teamwork and enthusiasm.
These outdoor challenges truly put JS5 to the test. They were asked to solve problems and complete tasks that required communication, cooperation, and creative thinking. A highlight was the adventure race, where students played a series of games to earn points and support their team in the hope of victory.

Another memorable part of the trip was sleeping in platform tents with friends—a true camp-style experience. Even though the weather wasn’t always ideal, the teachers and staff ensured that every moment remained fun and meaningful.

It took determination to face the darkness of the night and courage to try new things, but the result was an unforgettable adventure. The Norval trip will surely be remembered as a once-in-a-lifetime experience, filled with lessons, laughter, and lasting memories.
