SMLS Robotics Team Wins Provincial Championship

Congratulations to the SMLS SWAT771 Robotics team who, in partnership with two other teams, won the Ontario Provincial 2019 Championship. As a result, SWAT771 will be competing in the World Championships in Detroit later this month. Kudos to all team members on this outstanding accomplishment!
With their exceptional results over the past few competitions, SWAT771 is now ranked thirteenth out of 169 teams in Ontario. Recognition goes to the members of the robotics team as well as the teachers, mentors, volunteers and donors who have contributed to making this a remarkable season and, year after year, an extraordinary experience for all robotics club members.
Our SWAT771 team, also known as FRC771, has been a participant in FIRST since 2002. FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, and is an international youth organization that operates the FIRST Robotics Competition, FIRST LEGO League, FIRST Lego League Jr., and FIRST Tech Challenge competitions.
For the 2019 provincial competition, our team formed an alliance with two other teams, FRC1114 and FRC1241, to compete against other team alliances. Our alliance won the Science Division, then went on to play against the top alliance in the Technology Division, for the championship. SMLS team members shared in the victory with their partner teams, including shout outs on social media.
