Canadian Business Leader Addresses Graduating Class of 2018

At our Grad Breakfast on May 25, we were honoured to welcome SMLS parent Kirstine Stewart as our keynote speaker. Ms. Stewart is President/Chief Revenue Officer of innovation firm Tribal Scale and one of Canada's most high-profile women in business. Most recently, she was named to the Maclean’s list of the most powerful Canadians (just two places behind Justin Trudeau), to Toronto Life’s list of the most influential Torontonians and to Canadian Business’s 2015 list of the top 50 most powerful business people in Canada. She is also the author of a best selling book on leadership, "Our Turn."

In her address, Ms. Stewart told graduates, "Everyone’s career journey is different: it's not a ladder – it’s jungle gym... I interned as a publicist and they promised me a job on graduation. When that didn't happen, I was devastated... But, the day I was told my “dream job” wasn’t going to happen wasn’t the end of the dream. It was the start of my journey on the jungle gym.... Remember that what success looks like is yours and yours alone to define – and it can be as broad and wonderful as you dare to dream. Enjoy the ride!"
