MS8 Students Selected as Finalists for the Unsung Hero Project

MS8 students have been busy this year researching and developing the ability to tell a story through art, drama and music as part of their Grade 9 Reach Ahead Integrated Arts course. Several students have submitted their work to competitions and two students were recently selected as finalists for the Unsung Hero Project. Above left is artwork created by Angelyn K., inspired by Geraldyn M. Cobb, also known as Jerrie Cobb, who changed the way people view the rights of women through space travels. Above right is artwork created by DJ S., inspired by Dr. Helen Taussig, who pursued her dreams of becoming a prestigious cardiologist and the first female president of the American Heart Association. Students documented their process and wrote position papers to support their chosen unsung hero.
