Recently, our multi award-winning robotics team held an e-symposium via Skype with students in Beijing. This event was designed to provide new teams with a framework of the FIRST Robotics FRC program. Our girls and their mentors shared basic robot-building tips and other useful information to help set them up for success.
Recently, our multi award-winning robotics team held an e-symposium via Skype with students in Beijing. This event was designed to provide new teams with a framework of the FIRST Robotics FRC program. Our girls and their mentors shared basic robot-building tips and other useful information to help set them up for success.
Oakville attendees included Amy L. - SWAT Co-Captain, Nicole B.– Lead Programmer, Michelle B. - electrical and Outreach, Gilbert Lai - Mentor from Quanser, Elliott Coleshill– Mentor from Seneca College, John Hobbins– FIRST Canada, Director of FRC, and Sarah Sils– Team Teacher Mentor.
The participants in China were Vicky W. – SWAT Mechanical Lead, Gigi C. – SWAT team member, Gary Chan – former 4001 member (Canadian team near Markham), and 16 rookie FRC teams from Beijing and the Shanghai area.
It was a successful event and will be used as a model for future international symposiums. Rumoured to be next are England and/or India - stay tuned!
