The Advancement Office at St. Mildred's-Lightbourn School is the centre for all fundraising, marketing, communications and alumnae activities. Our goal is to strengthen support for the School, internally and externally, by attracting donors and by ensuring that all donors to our School receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.

SMLS is a not-for-profit charitable organization and philanthropy is an important part of our culture. Tuition fees do not cover the cost of the enriched environment that we strive to provide our girls. We rely on the generosity of the SMLS community to finance the acquisition of new technology, the continued improvement of our classrooms and facilities and the replenishing of our Scholarship and Bursary Fund.

Enhanced tax incentives introduced by the Federal Government have allowed charitable organizations, like SMLS, to appeal to donors in more sophisticated ways. Donors making gifts of securities, for example, do not have to pay any capital gains and receive a full income tax receipt for the value of the shares.

Thank you all in advance for participating in whatever way you are able in our fundraising appeals and events this year. I assure you that your donations to SMLS will be handled with respect and confidentiality and that your gifts will be used for the purposes for which they are given.
